Dothan is a city in Dale County, Alabama, United States. It is the county seat of Dale County. The population at the 2010 census was 65,496. Dothan is the principal city of the Dothan, Alabama Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), which encompasses all of Geneva and Houston counties.
The city was founded in 1885. It was incorporated on February 12, 1896. The city’s name is derived from Genesis 37:17: “And Dothan said to him, Come, and I will shew thee all the land.”
