Option 1

If you plan to drive to the summit, keep an eye out for the Mount Greylock Reservation and Visitor signs on Route 7, two miles north of Lanesboro. Turn right at North Main St., and you’ll find the visitor center on the right just before the entrance to the reservation. Here you can get trail information and maps. Keep going on Rockwell Rd. for 9 miles to reach the summit.

Option 2

If you plan to hike the Hopper Trails, you’ll stay on Route 7, to the west of Greylock.

Option 3

If you plan to hike the Cheshire Harbor Trail or the Thunderbolt Ski Trail, go east from Lanesboro to the area of Berkshire. Then get on Route 8 to the east portion of Greylock. Continue going north to find the trailheads about 8 miles up the road in Adams.

From New York

If you’re coming from New York, you can reach Lanesboro from the New York State Thruway (I-87) by getting off at I-90 and following it to 90 West towards Albany until you hit Route 20 East. Take that into Massachusetts until you hit Route 7. 

If you’re on the Taconic Parkway in New York, take it to I-90 and follow I-90 East to exit number 2 in Lee. Follow Route 20 to Route 7, pass Pittsfield, and go another 6 miles.

From Massachusetts

Taking the Mass Pike is probably your best bet if you’re coming from within Massachusetts. Take it to exit 2 in Lee, follow Route 20 to Route 7, pass Pittsfield, and go another 6 miles to Lanesboro.

From Georgia

If you’re feeling extra adventurous, you can always hike to Mount Greylock! If you’re coming from Georgia, you can hike the entire Appalachian Trail from Georgia to the summit (which is over 1,500 miles).
